About me
I have been playing the piano & keyboard for over 10 years and my main passion is for jazz music. I started playing with a Trio at jam sessions and gigs in and around Manchester at various venues including Matt and Phred's. In the Trio I wrote and arranged the tunes with Stuart Whitehead, who has guided me in this field, and from then on we have played countless times together becoming very tight as a rhythm section for various bands. I play solo Piano occasionally but prefer ensemble work.
I currently live in London, and completed studying a degree in Jazz in 2008. My influences are wide and varied ranging from artists such as Bill Evans Trios, Herbie Hancock, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Oscar Peterson, Victor Feldman, McCoy Tyner, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Tomasz Stanko, Jimmy Smith, Roy Ayers, Stevie Wonder, Patrice Rushen too name a few. I have to say out of all those artists mentioned the most albums I own are by Bill Evans, my true idol. I have been listening to him with his various trios for a long time now and his music still sounds fresh every time.
I Currently have my own trio which features Henry Gilbert on Double Bass & Chris Packham on Drums.
I play with the Tim Collinson Quartet and various other people in and around London in various different outfits.
If you're interested in doing a session, I've done session work before, working alongside the well-known producer Zed Bias/Dave Jones.
Although my main interest is in jazz music, I'm really interested in the current dance music scene, with styles ranging from: Hip-Hop/Soul/Broken/Boogie-Funk etc.
