About me

Al Scott first became influenced by the music of Michael Jackson, it must have been the Quincy Jones element that influenced him. Although his main passion is for jazz music, he's done session work for various producers, and featured live alongside DJs in the dance music scene. Back in Manchester he had a Trio, which played various venues including Matt and Phreds, a well-known Jazz club up north.
Currently living in London since 2005, he's been involved with various groups & projects. Influences from artists such as: Bill Evans Trios, Herbie Hancock, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Victor Feldman, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Ayers & Patrice Rushen too name a few. Bill Evans is his true idol, he has been listening to him with his various trios, & he still finds his music sounds fresh & vibrant.

Al Scott Trio

His current trio 'Al Scott Trio' have been playing together for just over 2 years after meeting on various London sessions and sculpted their sound playing the London circuit.
The Trio features, Al Scott at the piano, Henry Gilbert on Double Bass & Marco Quarantotto on Drums. They released their first recording together in November 2011 entitled 'Introducing the Al Scott Trio'
Their individual influences are wide & varied and they have all played in various musical settings, which is evident in their music, although the most significant players include; Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus & Tomasz Stanko.

If you're interested in doing a session, I've done session work before, working alongside the well-known producer Zed Bias/Dave Jones
Although my main interest is in jazz music, I'm really interested in the current dance music scene, with styles ranging from: Hip-Hop/Soul/Broken/Boogie-Funk etc.
